I got an email a few weeks back from Brittany, my cousin’s sweet girlfriend, asking about my availability for a maternity photo session for her sister! I thought that was so nice that she was trying to refer her to me, but she told me she and her other sister wanted to GIFT her sister a maternity session! How stinkin’ sweet is that?! We all know that doing things for ourselves like our nails, new outfits, and even photos of ourselves are the first things to go when we’re prepping and saving for a life event. But Brittany was insistent that her sister have these done, and the entire thing reminded me of my sweet Kate. If I told Kate I was skipping on the maternity photos, (other than loosing her mind!) she would do the same for me . That selfless sister bond is like no other.
Before the session, Amber told me that she was so nervous about this session because she had never had professional photos done of herself! And like most photographers, that made me a bit nervous! In order to make sure she had the best possible experience, I needed to ensure she was confident in herself and that she trusted me! It’s my job as the photographer to guide my clients and make them feel like they’re absolute pro’s at this! Getting your photos taken is a very unnatural thing to do, but by ‘creating’ moments that happen on their own (like laughing, walking, tickling each other) the experience and outcome is just so beautiful! It shows in Amber’s photos, especially the ones of her and Kaycee! Love that mother-daughter bond, ah!
The entire shoot was wonderful, perfect weather, funny jokes, and some adorable family photos. Amber, Walt, and Kaycee kept me on my toes laughing the entire time. They are certainly a family full of humor (ideal clients, Am I right?!) and I felt like I had known them for so long! I can’t wait to see those announcement photos of their sweet boy who is due to arrive next week, already! I know they are just anxious to have him in their arms, who can blame them! Enjoy a few of my favorites from Amber’s maternity portraits!
