Let me set the precedent that I am not a fashion guru by any stretch of the imagination. However, I know the pain you all go through when picking out the outfits for your photo sessions and I share in that pain. Therefore, I put together this fall family photos style guide to make things just a wee bit easier on ya! If this helps just one mama out, then it’ll be worth the hours I put into it 😉
I’ve gathered some clothing that stuck out to me while browsing through my favorite shops – Madewell, Zara, Old Navy, and of course – Target. Target isn’t the greatest with little boy clothes and that is how we discovered Zara. Now I am routinely purchasing high quality pieces for the boys there and you just can’t go wrong! A photog bestie has gotten me hooked on Madewell and well, it truly lives up to its name. Each piece i’ve purchase there in August (sorry budget) has felt like an heirloom piece that i’ll have for years. Worth the investment for sure!
Here’s what i’ve learned over the years –
- Don’t over think it. Get a general idea of colors and just work from there.
- Choose your outfit first. Something you feel good in. Figure the rest out after.
- One person in plaid, only. Same goes for florals.
- The sooner you order clothes the better. Give yourself a few weeks to return all the things.
I hope this helps & I hope even more that we get to spend some time catching up next month at the fall mini sessions! Here’s the links to book if you haven’t already!
