There’s nothing better than golden hour by the water–unless you add two golden retrievers and a champagne celebration to the mix! Colleen and Matt’s Annapolis engagement session was the perfect mix of romance, fun, and fur! From dockside snuggles to a bubbly toast at sunset, this shoot was effortlessly “them” from start to finish.

We started the session at a quiet marina in downtown Annapolis, where the soft evening sun gave everything a dreamy glow. Colleen wore a white lace dress that felt fresh, timeless, and totally bridal. Matt kept it sharp and classic with a blue checkered shirt—basically the Pinterest board come to life.

The way these two looked at each other? Pure love. Whether they were walking hand in hand or cuddled up on a bench overlooking the bay, you could tell this is a couple that’s totally in sync.=

Enter: The Real Stars (aka Their Dogs)

Their two golden retrievers stole the show and my heart. With the kind of puppy dog eyes that melt you, they brought so much personality and warmth to the session! Bonsu: they were total pros in front of the camera.

Pro Tip: If you’re thinking of bringing your dogs to your engagement session (please do), bring some treats, a lint roller, and maybe a friend to help with pup-wrangling between shots. It makes things way easier and keeps your photos stress-free.

Celebrating with a Champagne Toast

As the sun dipped below the horizon, Colleen and Matt popped a bottle of champagne and toasted to forever. It was one of those “pause and soak it in” moments that made the entire evening feel even more special.

Pro Tip: If you’re planning to include a champagne pop in your engagement photos, go for a bottle of prosecco or sparkling cider you don’t mind shaking up a bit! Shake the bottle gently beforehand, loosen the cork, and aim away from people (and pets!). Bringing a backup bottle for a relaxed sip afterward is a fun idea too—one for the pop, one for the toast!
